Open to Interpretation

Freckles in April OTI

I was totally excited to hop on the Open to Interpretation Bandwagon. Here’s the prompt:

And my take on it…

Sweater: Gap
Shirt: Forever 21
Skinnies: H&M
Booties: Zappos
Necklace & hat: old

When I saw this prompt, I actually laughed out loud. Not because it isn’t a great prompt (it is) or because I didn’t know what to do with it (I actually had several ideas for different combos), but because of the hat.

When Dan and I were in college, he had this big furry Eskimo hat, and like any sweet and kind girlfriend, I made fun of him incessantly for it. Then today I ate a very large slice of humble pie when I asked to borrow it. For a fashion post.
This prompt was also great for letting me know when I need to give up on an article of clothing. I originally wore it with a chunky pink sweater that I dearly loved several years ago. I keep thinking I might wear it at some point, and I finally tried it out with this. While it made the outfit look a little more “authentic” to the original, I just felt frumpy and not cute all day. So the moral of this story is when you are deciding whether to keep an old pink sweater, see if you like it with a somewhat ridiculous furry hat first.

Oh, and these pictures? Had to be taken while a bunch of construction workers were around our condo complex. One kept giving me weird looks and I couldn’t figure out why until I realized that I was taking pictures of myself in a weird hat. “Christmas cards?” he asked. “Um, no, it’s for a…project.”

Thanks to Kayla, Erica & Amy for letting us join!
