Birthday Gifts for Our 3 Year Old Boy

Spread the love

Today my 4th kiddo turns THREE! I actually love the twos so much so I’ll miss that little age, but I’m excited for him to learn and grow. Plus, three year olds are hilarious! I don’t like to go overboard with presents, but I did want to figure out a few fun birthday gifts for a 3 year old boy.

Birthday gifts for a 3 year old boy

Our kiddo has three older siblings. Plus, I really prefer to keep toys to a minimum. I firmly believe kids play so much better when they’re not overwhelmed by too many options, and it keeps our space cleaner and tidier, too. So it was a bit tricky to find nail down the best birthday present ideas for a 3 year old.

The ones I found are both fun and educational (perfect as we start distance learning/homeschooling). They’re also great home preschool activities since our schools aren’t meeting in person right now.

Here’s what we’re giving him – I hope they give you some simple and educational 3 year old birthday present ideas!

Experiences

This part, is of course, the most important and what he’ll surely love most. We’re planning to go out for ice cream, visit a National Park, go on a hike, and even hunt for diamonds! It’s going to be a blast. We’re also giving him a can of sparkling water because he’s obsessed with fizzy water.

Colored Counting Bears

I’ve heard such fantastic things about these little colored counting bears. They’re perfect for learning colors as well as working on sorting and one-to-one association. Perfect for a little beginning preschooler!

There are a few different sets, but these are inexpensive and have fantastic reviews.

Zingo

Zingo has been on my game list for a little while, but I haven’t had a kiddo quite the right age since I started considering it. I’m delighted to have a reason to add it to our game collection!

I got the original version that’s great for pre-readers and early readers. I think it will be so fun for him to play with my almost-6 year old (and I suspect my older kiddos will happily jump in, as well).

Books

Are there any birthday gifts for a 3 year old boy or girl better than books? I’d say not. You know how much I value a diverse and inclusive children’s bookshelf, so this book is perfect for a 3 year old starting to become interested in space. And I’m really excited about this stunner, especially as we’re visiting a number of National Parks this year. (See my Yosemite guide with kids here!)

Ball

Because what 3 year old with lots of siblings doesn’t need a ball of his own?

Clothes

Since we’ve been on our RV trip, we’ve been doing a LOT of hiking and outdoor exploring. Two year olds are not known for being super nice to their clothing in general, and a lot of his stuff has gotten pretty trashed. Plus, with the changing of the seasons, he needed a couple things to fill in gaps in his wardrobe, as well – even though he has two older brothers and a sister, some things have worn out by this point.

My very favorite kid clothes shops are Zara and H&M. The narrower Euro cuts work much better for my long and lean kiddos. These little joggers are so darling, and these little henley shirts are perfect for being comfortable and casual but looking a step above a t-shirt. And I think he’ll love this little interactive lion shirt! Perfect for a little 3 year old birthday gift for an animal lover.

That’s it! Simple and sweet and educational and fun. I’d love to hear – what are your best birthday gifts for a 3 year old boy or girl? I’ll have another kiddo turning 3 in a couple years so I’ll take all the ideas I can get!
