I’m thrilled you’re ready to join in on the Global Children’s Book Club by reading some incredible and diverse multicultural children’s literature with us this year.
Choosing the Multicultural Children’s Literature Chapter Books and Picture Books
In choosing the books, I’ve heavily prioritized own voice authors, including for all the chapter books and most of the picture books.
I’ve also done my best to choose books for a mix of age ranges. The picture books are generally aimed at children ages 3-8. For the chapter books, a few are aimed at slightly younger audiences (5-8), while some are geared to kids up to age 10 or 12. I’ll try to provide some guidance during the month prior, and I certainly recommend doing a bit of your own research to ensure content (especially in the chapter books) is age-appropriate for your children.

Thank you for once again doing this work. I’m wondering if the chapter books are appropriate to read aloud as a family. I have kids that are 6 & 10. We really enjoyed doing the Global Service Advent Calendar with you!
Thank you for joining in!! There are some younger (5-8) and some older (8-12) chapter books, but in general, they’re all geared to elementary-aged kids. We’re planning to read them all aloud as a family. Hope that helps!!
