I always love getting Dan’s Christmas gifts sorted early! It’s so nice to have everything organized down to the stocking stuffers – we even started wrapping and are hoping to finish it off so we can relax and enjoy the beauty of the season. Here’s what I’m actually giving my husband for Christmas 2024 if you’re looking for some ideas!

And if you’re curious what we’re really giving our kids this Christmas (including a couple of gifts for the whole family), here’s that list!

Trip to New York City!

I have been over the moon excited about this for months and months. The impetus for this trip is that Dan is a massive fan of Stephen Colbert and it’s been a bucket list dream of his to see him live. So I looked into options and found some great flight deals on points and a points hotel and jumped on it. Even better is that we’re visiting with friends!

I’m currently on the waiting list for Colbert tickets (they email you if you’ve gotten through), so I’m crossing allll of my fingers and toes that we get them. If anyone anywhere has an in, please please let me know!

While there, we’re also going to attend Masquerade, which I’ve had a few different friends attend and rave about. It looks incredible and Dan is a massive theatre fan (as am I), so I think we’ll love this.

We’re also planning on attending a show or two, and having a meal with a few different friends. I can’t wait!

12 Daytes of Christmas Dates

For the last couple of years, I’ve planned “12 Daytes of Christmas,” a series of dates for us to explore our beloved adopted city. It’s been so fun for both of us! Grateful there’s so much to see and do here that’s also really affordable/free.

  • January
    • New York
    • Joshua Bell at Cadogan Hall
  • February
    • Books for Cooks lunch
    • V&A East
  • March
    • St. John’s Passion by Monteverdi Choir
    • Into the Woods
  • April
    • Hatfield House
    • St. James’s Palace tour
  • May
    • Globe Theatre tour
    • Highgrove Gardens
  • June
    • Ascot
    • The Tempest with the Royal Shakespeare Company

Padel Racquet

Dan has really enjoyed playing padel (sort of a mix between pickleball and squash) with a bunch of school dads this year. I figured it was time to get him a racquet of his own! I got it secondhand, but THIS is the same brand.

What I’m Putting In My Husband’s Stocking

I love putting together a stocking for Dan in addition to the kids – it’s so fun! Here’s a post with 100+ really fantastic, useful, fun stocking stuffer ideas that men (and lots of others) will love – and that won’t go in the bin or the junk drawer.

Here’s what’s going in my husband’s stocking in 2025:

  • Warm wool socks – Dan has been needing some new socks. These have amazing reviews and look extra warm, so I’m excited to pop them in his stocking (and try them out myself ;))
  • Tin of sardines – I grabbed one of these at Monoprix when in Paris – I think the little tins are so beautiful! The one I got is red with lemons. It’ll be handsome to sit out, but Dan is also an adventurous eater, so I’m sure he’ll give them a try!
  • Pistachio cream – I also got this in Paris! A bottle of amazing-looking pistachio cream from the amazing chocolate shop Jade Genin. Pistachio is Dan’s favorite flavor so I’m sure he’ll love this.
  • Double gated carabiners – Dan loves carabiners of all sorts, and I’ve been loving these
  • 3D London bus cufflinks – Dan loves cufflinks and I was excited to find this pair. This was another secondhand find, but we’ve gotten a number of pairs from HERE and they’ve all been terrific quality with a wide selection.

FROM THE KIDS: Pindaloo

I’ve heard about this game for a number of years and it’s exactly the type of thing Dan will love and will be so fun for him to do with the kids.
