I spent much of my childhood trying my hardest to learn about all of the “normal” holidays – Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. I didn’t want to feel like the outsider by learning about Hindu holidays that no one else in my school celebrated. Plus, it’s tricky to learn about traditions and meaning in a vacuum, when it isn’t being taught regularly and frequently. Diwali with kids felt pretty elusive to me.
Fast forward to being an adult who wishes she had learned more as an adult, and had more educational opportunities for it. Because of that, it’s super important to me to help my children learn the history, spiritual significance, and cultural traditions while they’re still young – and I love learning along with them.
A Simple Diwali with Kids Resource
I wanted an easy resource to help our family celebrate the 5 days of Diwali. I knew I wanted a mix of things – simple crafts, books, and videos. I couldn’t find something simple and straightforward, so I decided to research and create my own resource.
This little PDF booklet walks you through each day of Diwali in a simple and straightforward way, and shows you exactly which activities you can participate in for the day. Additionally, each day has a very simple printable craft, as well as a QR code for a book read aloud and a video to learn more about the festival.
It’s been wonderful remembering my family’s traditions, which are even different from those in other regions of India.
How Much Does This Family Diwali Guide Cost?
I wanted to price this resource in a way that’s hopefully very accessible for most families. It’s only $10, so I hope this allows you to support Diwali celebrations and spend some time doing some of the activities with your family. You can even consider purchasing a copy for a friend!
I hope it’s just as educational and fun for your family as it is for ours!
Where To Purchase
If you’re interested in purchasing a copy, you can head right here.
Whether or not you choose to purchase, if you’d like to get a brief email each day of Diwali with the general meaning and history, you can pop in your email right here!
