This month, we’ve been reading Lalani of the Distant Sea for the Global Children’s Book Club. We loved this middle grade fantasy that helped us consider everyday heroes, the power hidden in marginalized groups, and what it means to be brave.

With the folklore woven into the story and a powerful female protagonist, the setup of Lalani reminded me quite a bit of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, which we adored.
We Dream of Space is the author, Erin Entrada Kelly’s book that just won a Newbery Honor. I can’t wait to read this one!
