I’ve loved mango lassi for as long as I can remember. Growing up in an Indian household, you’d think that this mango drink recipe would be a staple at home. However, my family never made it at home, although we did have it every time we went out for Indian food. It was also one of my favorite things to regularly have  on the cheap whenever we visited India! So I consider myself a bit of a mango lassi connoisseur.

Ingredients for Mango Drink Recipe

This mango drink recipe is super simple and only uses four ingredients. It uses mango pulp (more info below), yogurt, sugar, and milk. For the best consistency and taste, I recommend using full fat yogurt and milk.

I also suggest making mango lassi with a good quality blender if possible. Using a high speed one will give you a nice smooth, creamy consistency. (Here is our beloved blender that we’ve used for years.) You may serve your mango yogurt drink immediately, or you can chill before serving.

Mango Lassi with Mango Pulp

For a while, we tried to make mango lassi with both fresh mango and frozen mango. It turns out that most restaurants actually use canned mango pulp! Using the pulp gives a smooth, thick consistency that blends beautifully with the yogurt.

You can also use frozen or fresh mango, but the sweetness and consistency is a lot more variable. I also find they don’t give the same intensity of mango flavor. Using frozen mango makes it more like a smoothie than a lassi, but it’s still delicious (just use 4-8oz more milk than you would when using canned mango).

We typically purchase canned mango pulp at the Indian grocery store (you can do an Internet search for one in your area). It typically costs us about $4 for a 30oz can. You can also purchase mango pulp online for slightly more.
